The Boxer is a medium sized athletic looking dog with a muscular frame, a square head, and a short muzzle. The boxers coat is short and smooth, sheds very little, and comes in colors of fawn, brindle and also white. The coat colors can come with or without white markings. Boxers ears are either left naturally folding or cropped and the tail is usually docked.
The Boxer is a boisterious, loyal, kind, intelligent and alert breed. They are very, very loyal to the family and loves children. They are very curious and willing to learn, but can also be stubborn even with obedience training.. Boxers are very intelligent and easy to train and will do well in sporting activities such as, field skills competitions, and defense trails.Boxers are a dominate breed , but a properly brought up Boxer will get along with other dogs and other family pets. While Boxers are friendly and easy going with family and friends, they will not be friendly at all with unwanted strangers or any type of preditor. Boxers are fearless dogs that will defend it's property and family till the end.
The Boxer was developed in Germany as a working and hunting dog that would chase deer, bears, and wild boar. They were also used in the military as messenger dogs, guard dogs, carriers, and attack dogs during the first World Wars. Soldiers returning home brought Boxers back with them and they soon became very popular dogs around the world, and a favorite for dog shows, and protection. Today Boxers are used in police work, search and rescue, therapy dogs, and field competition sports. Today Boxers are one of Americas favorite breeds.
