Appearance

The Canis Panther is a solid, well built heavily muscled dog. The breed is very athletic, strong, determined, and has an imposing look. The Panther has a wide chest and jaw line and a fine nose. The ears and tail of the Panther are usually cropped and docked by the breeder, and also the rear dew claws are removed. The coat of the Panther is short and comes in solid colors of chocolate, buckskin, black, and blue. The females height range from 25-28in and up to 105 lbs.

Behavior

The Canis Panther is very loyal and devoted to his handler and family, and will protect them at all cost. They are a very intelligent breed that is easily trained and excels in obedience training. They are natural protectors of their family pack, and well behaved with children. Even though they are well behaved with children, supervision is still needed as with any large breed dog. With early socialization and training they will easily get along with other family pets. They are very untrusting of strangers, and will guard the property and family against anything they feel is a threat.

History

The Canis Panther was created in the 1970's by Mr. "Scorpio" Jones, " a dog trainer from the Chicago area" with the help of L.Berg, and L. Lopez for ultimate personal protection. Years ago trying to obtain popular breeds such as the German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers, Giant Schnauzers, and the Rottweilers was not easy, because breeders who had the excellent dogs with working backgrounds would not sell their dogs in the inner city, especially if they knew that the people that were trying to buy them were dog trainers, and trying to get young men that were in the military station in Germany to ship any of these breeds to the states was also a dilemma, because of the cost to have them shipped and the trust that they would ship them. That's when Mr. Scorpio Jones, L. Berg, and L. Lopez decided to develop their own breed for personal protection using the Black Labrador, Black Great Dane, American Stafforshire Terrier, and Doberman Pinscher to create the Canis Panther. Today the breed is fully developed with established blood lines and multi-generation pedigrees. The only legitimate breeders of the Canis Panther are Rock of Ages Kennels, Mr. Scorpio, and Madonna Kennels. A suitable owner for the Canis Panther is one that exudes leadership and responsibilty, consistant and fair handling, serious about personal protection, wants loyal companionship, and is willing to train and love this breed for many years.
