History

The Fila is a large working breed developed in Brazil. It is believed to have been developed from bloodhound, bulldog, and mastiff. They were found primarily on plantations and farms and used as cattle dogs, and estate guardians. They are also known to be excellent tracking dogs. Because of the aggressiveness of the breed, they have been added to the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act, and banned or resticted in some countries and cities.
