Guardians & Big Game Hunters

Man's best friend has been around for centuries to help and aid in human needs. Whether it's helping with herding cattle or guarding flocks of sheep, guarding the family and property, search and rescue, police work, or assisting in hunting, dogs have always been ready willing and able to accomplish any task set before them. Here we look at a few particular breeds that are used for many of the tasks that are mentioned above, but specialize in Big Game Hunting or Guarding, and some if not most specialize in both. Man's survival has greatly depended on his four-legged friend. They have helped him in many areas of the world where his desire to make a life have been hampered by wild animals or people. They have also helped man to obtain food for him and his family. Every breed of dog is not up to the task of having to take on a 6 to 8 hundred pound or more wild bear, moose, elk, lions, tigers, wolves, cougars and jaguars, or wild boar. Certain breeds had to be bred together to obtain certain traits that were needed for certain tasks. These particular breeds were bred to have the intelligence, the speed, the athleticism, the heart, the tenacity, and tremendous power to take on any of these wild animals or any human.
